All Contact Lens Wearers

Most of the rules are about avoiding eye infections Let’s face it, a red sore eye is no fun, and an infection can be sight-threatening. So, avoiding one is worth some effort.

  • Don’t wear your lenses when you’re SICK.

  • Don’t SHOWER or SWIM in your lenses.

  • Wash and DRY your hands before you put your lenses in or take them out.

  • Avoid water and contact lenses. If you think water has touched your contact lens, dispose of the lens.

  • Carry some contact lens re-wetting drops with you,

  • Don’t continue to wear a lens that’s persistently uncomfortable.

  • See your optometrist or ophthalmologist regularly.


And extra things for those who have multi-use lenses

Multi-use contact lenses need more looking after than completely disposable ones, so there are a few more rules for them

  • Clean, rinse and disinfect your lenses after every wear.
    DO NOT use water.

  • Keep the lids on your solution bottles and store them in a cool place.

  • Check the expiry dates of your lenses and solutions, and if it’s out of date, don’t use it.

  • See your optometrist or eye specialist at least once a year.
