It’s the second half of 2016 and the second half of my two year term as president. It was a huge pleasure to host the 2016 one day conference in my home town, Wellington, and I was delighted (and relieved!) with how it went. The harbour-side venue was convenient, light and congenial and the catering was superb. As always the educational content was excellent with the keynote addresses being delivered by Professor Fiona Stapleton from the University of New South Wales. I particularly enjoyed some of the local content – Dr James McKelvie on modernising referral into a public setting for cataracts ( so much more inspirational than it sounds) and Greg Nel on Myopia Control from the lab to the High Street.
The CCLS broke new ground by organising a glaucoma workshop the day before the conference, as a benefit to members. It was well-received and well-attended and we aim to continue add-on educational events for our members.
I hope you’re enjoying the website – you’ll find its new features useful, particularly the searchable databases of currently available contact lenses and parameters, and of contact details for your fellow members.
2017’s conference will be a two day event in March in sunny Nelson. Organisation is well in hand and I look forward to seeing you there
